Halle Berry is SINGLE.......again!!

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have split, TMZ has confirmed, and she went to a divorce lawyer three weeks ago to find out about a custody arrangement ... but nothing long-term was agreed upon and no financial settlement has been struck.

Halle and Gabriel worked out a "very short-term custody arrangement," a very connected source tells TMZ. But when they worked out the arrangement they had not split, though they were clearly having problems. Neither Halle nor Gabriel have tried to make the arrangement permanent for 2-year-old Nahla.

Neither of them have gone to a lawyer to formalize any type of long-term agreement, so despite the fact they have split, there is no custody arrangement or property settlement agreement.

We are told, however, by sources close to the situation, that Halle and Gabriel are "working well together" and are handling parental duties without conflict.

We are told the long-term plan is to share custody but nothing has been formalized in writing.

I wasn’t upset about losing a chance to go to the Grammy’s or any celebrity perks. It was the loss of the friendship that was difficult. That was the hardest part of the separation. These girls [Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson] were my friends from elementary school. We went to church together, we hung out together.

To go from that to sitting across from each other in a courtroom and going through all that law stuff, was just crazy. You just kind of look at each other differently. That’s when I realized that the friendship had died. Figuring out how we were going to split assets and profits and all of that felt like a divorce.

God is so amazing. Recently, I ran into Kelly and we got to catch up briefly. It was one of those things where you never know how the other person is going to react. But it was relaxed. I think we’ve both gotten to the age where it’s like, Girl please! She even hit me up the other day to let me know she was traveling. I would love to have a close friendship again, but that’s on God’s time.

She also cleared the air in regards to a past relationship with Matt Kemp (Rihanna’s boyfriend):

Like with the situation with Matt Kemp. I think the blogs kind of created the whole relationship. We were friends – there was nothing more to it. When we went out, a lot of times we had lots of other mutual friends there, but people would single us out. I definitely thought he was cute, but it was never anything like that. They had it on blogs that we were dating and this happened and that happened – but that’s not it.

Civil Rights Icon Dorothy Height Dies.

Dorothy Height, a longtime leader of the U.S. civil rights movement and the chairwoman of the National Council of Negro Women, died on Tuesday in Washington. She was 98.

Trained as a social worker, Height began her career as an advocate for civil rights and gender equality during the 1930s, working to prevent lynching, desegregate the U.S. armed forces, reform the criminal justice system and work for free access to public accommodations in the United States.

"Ms. Height was arguably the most influential woman at the top levels of civil rights leadership, but she never drew the major media attention that conferred celebrity and instant recognition on some of the other civil rights leaders of her time," the Washington Post said in an obituary in its online edition.

In 1994, President Bill Clinton presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. In 2004, she was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.

Grace Jones puts Lady Gaga on the spotlight.

Grace Jones is not flattered by anything that comes from Lady Gaga. So much, that she turned down an opportunity to do a collaboration with Gaga.

She says the reason she turned down the collaboration is because she refuses to team up with a celebrity who has been copying her style.

She said, “Yes, she did (ask about a duet), but I said no. I’d just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually. Well, you know, I’ve seen some things she’s worn that I’ve worn, and that does kind of piss me off. I wouldn’t go to see her.”

Gangstarr’s Guru Dies of Cancer

Guru, real name Keith Elam, passed away late yesterday (April 19, 2010) after a year-long battle with cancer. The rapper, who formed Gang Starr in 1985, had suffered a heart attack on February 28 then slipped into a coma.

Jay-Z sues David Ortiz over nightclub name

Jay-Z is contending after he and a business partner filed a lawsuit against the Boston Red Sox star on Thursday.

Jigga's beef? Ortiz opened a nightclub in Santo Domingo in his native Dominican Republic and named it "Forty-Forty."

Jay-Z thinks that's a sample that's too close to his line of "sports lounges" which carry the "40/40 Club" name ... no matter if Ortiz is spelling out the digits in order to be different.

"Jay-Z and Juan Perez(notes) own 40/40 Clubs in New York City, Atlantic City and Las Vegas and have plans to open further venues in Tokyo and Macau.

"They have accused Ortiz of trading on the fame, value and goodwill of their name through his club Forty/Forty and its website, www.fortyforty.net, which they say has caused their business 'marketplace confusion and damage,' the lawsuit said.

"'David Ortiz(notes) is fully aware of plaintiff's Manhattan 40/40 Club, since he had been a patron there on several occasions long before he opened his infringing Forty/Forty Club,' said the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court.

Shaq believes his wife tryna make a fool out of him.

Shaquille O’Neal believes his estranged wife Shaunie O’Neal may be cooking up a “televised revenge” plot on her VH1 reality show — and now he’s making legal threats to keep her from Shaq-bashing on the air.

Shaq’s lawyer has fired off a letter to the network — obtained by TMZ — in which he demands VH1 immediately halt production on “any further episodes of ‘Basketball Wives’ which make any reference to Mr. O’Neal.”

Shaq’s lawyer claims Shaunie signed a confidentiality agreement at some point in their relationship — so if she says anything about Shaq on TV, she and the production company will find their asses in court.

The first episode of the show already ran last week and show #2 — which reportedly features a scene centered around Shaunie’s relationship with Shaq — is scheduled to run Sunday. Sources close to the show tell us it’s unclear whether or not the next episode will make air.
